Were they opposites? Or soul mates?
Finding she had a perpetually unfaithful husband had been hard to cope with as a newly wed and newly certified marriage counselor. Still, that wasn’t as hard as finding her husband had a newborn daughter with a teenager—effectively ending both her marriage, and the career Monet McLaughlin had spent seven years building. That’ll leave a mark.
It’s why she absolutely knows not to trust the hunky male model who shows up two years later at her therapy horse stable to do a photo shoot for romance novel covers. Certainly no one who looks like that, and makes a living being that intimate with that many women, has a shred of moral integrity—do they?
They both know they are far too opposite for even a casual relationship, so then what the heck is going on here?
Cynics can heal—if they’re brave enough.
Praise for Jaclyn M. Hawkes’ books

I don't even know where to start to even begin to explain how disappointed with the story I was and how much I disliked the heroine in this book. Monet had to be the most judgmental christian person I have ever read about and I do a lot of reading! She really needed to look at herself to see a person who was needing forgiveness and tolerance. I was always taught it was not my place to judge another, especially when I myself am far from perfect, but Monet managed to judge Nick over and over again. I felt Monet lacked even the most fundamental of values like honesty and integrity in her personal relationships. She treated Tege with bare tolerance instead of being honest and upfront and just telling him she wasn't interested in him romantically. Plus who runs an equine therapy business for autistic children and keeps a dangerous unstable animal in the same barn that small children enter. Did this woman have no brain at all? Oh, that's right her brain was too busy finding fault with others instead of taking a long hard look at herself. My recommendation regarding this book is don't waste your money. If you enjoy christian romance there are so many other books out there that are so much better than this one!

Healing Creek A Love Story edition by Jaclyn M Hawkes Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This book was hopelessly romantic! I couldn't put it down. I also appreciated that its clean and has a great storyline.
This story certainly has a unique storyline. Nick is hunky and drives a flashy red Lamborghini. He's a model for steamy romance novel covers. Monet is graceful and poised. She's a trained psychologist and equestrian instructor. I couldn't imagine how the author was going to make this work out. The answer is... perfectly. Both have much to learn and grow. There is a gentle Christian thread, strong family dynamic, humor, angst, danger, and sweet, satisfying love. This clean romance is well edited, expressively written, and leaves you with a satisfied smile. I enjoyed it.
★★★☆☆ This book had a lot of potential, but I thought there was too much emphasis on passionate kissing toward the end. Monet and Nick's tenuous relationship involving touch and trust was otherwise well expressed. I liked Marni and Landon's role modeling as a Christian married couple. I also liked Caroline's depiction of an autistic child. More discussion about the therapeutic riding program's other children would have been helpful. The scene training three foals with their dams in one round pen was a predictable disaster. Training one foal by having it follow its dam with also on a lead should work better. Horse lovers who like a romantic novel may enjoy this book.
First off loved a Christian based story that didn't choke me with scriptures. But come away feeling good. In this book Monet had a very ruff marriage to a unfaithful man. Who claimed to be God fearing. She was a marriage counselor to boot. Now almost two years later she is working with healing horses. Helping others to mend themselves. She meets a Italian heartthrob who rented her ranch for a photo shoot. It gets the plot there. I enjoyed the static electricity that jumped out of the reading of Monet and Nick. I laughed at certain scenes, especially the heart monitor. Can't wait to read more by Jaclyn M. Hawkes.
I'm a life-long horse lover. I make no apologies for that. I read every horse book that comes along. So when I saw the description of a Christian romance that involved a heroine who ran a facility that used horses to help kids--that was right up my alley. The beautiful cover artband description drew me in; the writing kept me there. Once, when I checked my progress in the book, I was actually disappointed that I was nearly through. Ms. Hawkes creates great characters with desires, needs and warts, and she made me want to help these people succeed in this oddly matched but meant-to-be relationship between a damaged psychologist and a hunky model who wants something different from life. As an added plus for us horse lovers, she really knows horses and their behaviors, and the emotions they evoke. I could not stop reading this book, and you won't be able to, either. Sit back with a cup of hot chocolate, read and enjoy.
This is a no-holds-barred romance. It has a Christian underpinning; however that is not a detraction. Although it is not what I look for, the morals are congruent. I liken it to a well-designed home, as long as the architecture and individual components are of the same style and quality, it is deeply appealing. This is a grown-up book about youthful love and romance with charming, intelligent, strong female characters whose behavior reflects the integrity of their beliefs. This alone is something to aspire to; it draws the reader in and keeps you spellbound until the book is finished. So make the kids' dinner, and gather yourself some snacks before you pick this up; you will not want to be disturbed...
Although the cover and the title do little to draw you in, the book itself is a great read ... and it kept this mom of two babies up until 1 AM until it was finished.
Healing Creek will make you laugh, cry, and love. Faithfulness in marriage seems so rare these days, so a book that gives the "secret" to a lasting, loving relationship (one filled with lots of sparks and sizzles) is refreshing.
Dont think this book is preachy or boring, though. Far from it. There is raw, honest emotion and lots of fun and romance.
